The series of books I chose were not from the same author or publisher, but all shared the subject of cryptids. For the illustrative series, I was inspired by vintage Penguin Books paperbacks and their use of Helvetica. I chose to create a black and white illustration to sharply contrast the bright colors of the spine and text boxes, while also unifying the series. When spread out in order, the three book covers connect to form one long illustration. Each book in the series features one cryptid silhouette with similar glowing eyes. The first book features Mothman.
In the photographic series, to focus more on the image, compared to the illustrative series, I chose to have the text floating directly on top of the image, while still strictly adhering to invisible margins. Ichose the IM FELL DW Pica font to highlight the mythical quality of the cryptid subjects. The photographic series features the same three cryptid subjects.
